Observation end  time: 16:00:00
Total observation time: 9 hours

Official Counter:        Nicole Shangi

Observers:        Hugh Kent, John Hall, Juliette Herdman, Liz Kent,
Noel Herdman

Visitors:
We thank all our visitors to the tower today including Noel, Juliette,
John, Linda,  Rick and Steve.

Weather:
Another warm and slow day on the tower. Winds were from the southwest all
day and very light. Sunny and about 27C.

Raptor Observations:
Today was slow again for raptors, however better than yesterday. We
observed turkey vulture kettles far off to the north. An early morning
peregrine went after a few blue jays right next to the tower. There were a
couple harriers and kestrels as well as a handful of sharpies.

Non-raptor Observations:
The sky was full of starlings today over the marsh. There were also many
gulls and swallows about. The warmth must have caused lots of insects to
emerge for all these birds feast on. We didn't see any new species today,
however we had almost 60 pelicans fly over the marsh! Two even landed in
the marsh for a long while. There is a small chance they may still be there
tomorrow morning. Blue jays are slowing down with just under 8000 counted.

Predictions:
Tomorrow looks promising! A cool day with stronger north winds should bring
some larger numbers of hawks. We should be seeing turkey vultures,
red-tailed hawks and red-shouldered hawks, and were crossing our fingers
for another golden eagle!
