If you have an item to donate to the Northstar Newfoundland Club's gift
basket that will be auctioned off to support Newfoundland rescue and health
initiatives, please bring them along to the meeting next week!

Subject: March meeting
Hi Chris,
When you send out the invite for the March membership meeting, could you
mention in there that my mom and I are collecting items for the National
basket?
I think Susan Wagner was planning on picking it up then to bring it with her
to the Nationals.
We have a few items: Fleece blanket, Old Dog Cora book, Granite MN paper
weight, a Chris Christiansion brush, fancy lead.....all to go into a Duluth
Pack backpack. We would like to get a few more items.
The idea was to get items that represent our region, i.e. things made here,
or from local artists, dog related or not.
We were planning on getting a bottle of local wine and some MN foods, (wild
rice soup) to also go in it. Maybe some other dog toys/items?
Any other ideas or donations would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

Chris,
Your email about items to go into the national basket reminded me of a
question that is sort of on a related subject. (Sorry, don't have any items
for the national basket). We have two dog crates that we would like to
donate to anyone who could use them. One is Newf size and the other is lab
size. They are the type where the top and bottom, which bolt together, are
made of plastic and the door is wire grating. You may not be the right
person to ask about this, but maybe you know the person I should ask? My
wife, Michele Vaillancourt, and I are the people who adopted Munchie. At
the time we bought an all metal, super max crate for her. I am happy to
report that she is no longer crated for any reason and is doing very well.
However three crates are too many and if someone could use either of the
other two crates we would be happy to pass along. Thanks.

Brent:
We have auctioned off crates at our events held in conjunction with dog
shows before and generally find people who can put them to good use. I
don't know about the March meeting, but the June and December shows are good
possibilities. Have you asked Janey Shaddrick at Newf Rescue if she could
use either of them? That is always a good use. Or you can put a notice and
mail it to "newflink" and see if any club members are interested.
Thanks for your generosity, and I am glad to hear that Munchie is doing
well!
