Harris-Stowe Formally Notified of its Continuing Higher Learning
Commission Accreditation

ST. LOUIS, MO (March 5, 2012) - In a letter dated February 22, 2012,
Harris-Stowe State University received formal notification of its Higher
Learning Commission (HLC) institutional accreditation status, and is
proud to announce that the university's accreditation will continue for
the next 10 years.

In October 2011, Harris-Stowe underwent a regular review of its
self-study during a three-day site visit to campus, which was hosted by
a university-wide committee of faculty, staff and administrators. During
the comprehensive visit, HLC team members gained valuable insight into
the educational programs, processes and procedures practiced by the
university and met with various stakeholders, including students,
alumni, Board of Regents and community leaders.

"The Division of Academic Affairs and the entire HSSU family worked
extremely hard to ensure that the accreditation visit was a success,"
said Dr. Albert Walker, president of Harris-Stowe. "This achievement
certainly confirms our long-standing commitment to educational
excellence and to the hundreds of students that we serve."

The HLC is an independent corporation and one of two commission members
of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (NCA), which is
one of six regional institutional accreditors in the United States. The
Higher Learning Commission accredits degree-granting post-secondary
educational institutions in the North Central region.

Harris-Stowe State University, located in midtown St. Louis, is a
four-year institution that offers 14 degree programs in the areas of
Accounting, Business Administration, Biology, Criminal Justice, Early
Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Health Care Management,
Hospitality and Tourism Management, Information Sciences and Computer
Technology, Mathematics, Middle School Education, Professional
Interdisciplinary Studies, Secondary Education and Urban Affairs. Ranked
by U.S. News as one of America's Best Colleges in the Midwest, the
university, which has been in existence for more than 150 years, offers
the most affordable bachelor's degree in the metropolitan area.
