Hi all, My name is Bob Cushing, am from upstate n.y and have been building
wood/epoxy boats for my own u..se for about 15 years. About 4 years ago I built
a 24ft powercat using a set of Hankinsons hellcat powercat plans as a basic
starting point. I also looked at and measured hull shapes and dimensions of many
production cats and arrived at what I wanted that way. It has a planing hull
with a notrhwest style full cabin -looks a lot like the old c-dory tomcat 30. We
have been using it for 3-4years now and like it very much. Powered by 2 four
stroke outboards approx 220hp total it runs about 38mph max -cruises very
quietly in the 20-30mph range.Ride quality is excellent, fuel consumption around
2-4mpg,very easy to dock. We have traveled extensively in this small cat -from
upstate ny down icw to jekyll island ga., trent severen canal, rideau, and
around lake ontario and thousand islands area. trailering weight is 6500lbs with
fuel and all.Cats are the way to go in my opinion. Bo
b.
