Georgs,
Eva and Ron Stob here. Long time  since we have been in contact with you.
Good to hear from you.
Our first Trawler Fest was  Melbourne, FL, April 15-18, 1999, which was the
second Florida Trawler Fest. Believe it or not, I still have all of the
original programs, some emails and information from all those Fests so if
you need lists of speakers, etc., for the years from 1999 through 2005, I may
have them. What kind of information do you want for your article?
Early March 1999 over two  thousand copies of the first printing of our new
book, “Honey, Let’s Get a Boat…”: A Cruising  Adventure of America’s
Great  Loop, had just been delivered to our home  and we were searching for ways
to market it. Eva was surfing the web and  stumbled across your website
about the Trawler Fest. We contacted you and you  invited us there. You made
room for us and since Dennis and Esther Bruckel were  already scheduled to
talk on the Great Circle (we’ve always called it the Great  Loop since that is
what Waterway Guides called it in 1994), you added a seminar  on Locking
Through which we gave. Our first Great Loop seminar was at Solomons  in the
fall of 1999 and we continued making presentations on the Great  Loop for
Trawler Fests for several  years.
The Trawler World Great Loop List  was started in October 2001 following
the gathering at the Solomons Trawler  Fest that fall.
Tom Caywood was the program  coordinator and other presenters at that Fest
included Claiborne Young,  Fred Myers, Bruce Kessler, Bob Smith and many
others. We always thought Skipper  Bob was at that one, too, but he wasn't and
we never met him  until the fall event in Solomons. We surely enjoyed those
years when the 4 of us  authors (Skipper Bob, Claiborne, Fred and us) and
Maria Russell of Women Aboard  got together at these events 2-4 times a year.
That was great fun.
Let us know if we can help.
