Whether you're a boater or you just enjoy being on the water in the
Pacific Northwest, please join us next week for the 1st Annual "Clean,
Green Boating Fair" on Saturday, May 2nd -- Opening Day of Boating
Season -- on Foss Waterway from 10 AM to 3 PM!
The purpose of the Fair is to celebrate the success of 20+ years of
Superfund Cleanup work on Foss Waterway and Commencement Bay, to
highlight the key role recreational boaters play in protecting and
preserving our waterways and shorelines, and to promote boating safety
year round.
The newly formed Tacoma Liveaboard Association and Citizens for a
Healthy Bay will co-host the 1st Annual "Clean, Green Boating Fair,"
which will offer free, narrated boat tours of the restored Foss Waterway
and free boat rides on quiet, clean electric Duffy boats. We'll show
how recreational boaters (power, sail, human-powered, etc.) play a key
role in continuing the successful preservation of Puget Sound and
protecting the health of people, waterways and shorelines. And we'll
have speakers and exhibits that tie together local efforts to save our
Sound with global efforts to save our oceans.
