CCWC Members and Friends,

Please join us at the next Chambers-Clover Watershed Council meeting on Wednesday, July 9th, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.  We will meet at Lakewood City Hall in the third floor Executive Conference Room.  Lakewood City Hall is located at 6000 Main St. SW in Lakewood.

Meeting Focus:  This month's meeting will focus on how open space conservation is happening around the Chambers-Clover Watershed.  Elliott Barnett, City of Tacoma, will talk about how Tacoma is being proactive about identifying and acquiring open space for conservation purposes.  Elliott will also introduce the City's recently completed draft of the Open Space Habitat and Recreation Plan.  Ryan Mello, Cascade Land Conservancy, will then talk about what CLC has achieved in terms of protecting open habitat space in our watershed.  CLC has been involved in the successful conservation of a number of properties, including the  Naches Trail Preserve and the Clover Creek Preserve.

Puyallup/Chambers-Clover Small Grants Program:  Applications are now being accepted for grants up to $2500 to fund restoration and education projects in the Chambers-Clover and Puyallup watersheds.  For more information, visit www.piercecountywa.org/srfb and click on "Puyallup/Chambers-Clover Small Grants Program."

Notes from last month's meeting will be available on the 9th.  And as usual, additional information on the Chambers-Clover Watershed Council can be found at www.piercecountywa.org/ccwc.  Please let me know if you have any questions.  I look forward to seeing you next week!
