Yesterday while at the beach at Hammonasset State Park in Madison, we watched hundreds of tree swallows fly off over the sound. They directed out gaze out towards
Faulkner’s Island where off in the distance we watched a pod of about 25 Bottlenose Dolphins feeding on menhaden. My first time seeing them in the Sound!

Michael,
Thank you for reporting this, DOLPHINS in long island sound (LIS), and
what they were feeding on.
We will mention this observation in our November 5th COA Science Conference
(930am, zoom only, no cost) which focuses this year on birds in LIS and
what they are eating there, every month of the year.
This conference is ON, and will be mentioned on the COA website next
week. Please register there at that time.
