Dear Kwasi,

Thank you for reaching out! We are excited about your interest in the Lifting As We Climb Fellowship and value your work at Clinton College!

The fellowship will be open to individuals who have completed a bachelor’s degree and have been admitted to the M.L.S. or M.I.S. program at NCCU’s School of Library and Information Sciences.  You can review the full SLIS admission requirements here: https://www.nccu.edu/slis/master-library-science-mls

We wish you continued success in your bachelor's degree program. Be on the lookout, we will soon be sharing additional online professional development opportunities to support the career growth of HBCU librarians!

Best regards,

Hi there,

I appreciate this valuable information and opportunity.

Can someone please let me know if this opportunity is afforded to individuals like me, who work for an HBCU but have not yet completed a bachelor's degree program? I am like 40 credits from completing my current degree program.

Kindl regards,
Kwasi Amponsa

Greetings Colleagues,

We’re preparing to release the application for the Lifting As We Climb Fellowship, a joint initiative between NCCU SLIS and the HBCU Library Alliance. This program is designed to support and develop library staff currently employed at HBCU libraries who are pursuing an M.L.S. or M.I.S. degree at NCCU.

We ask that you begin identifying strong candidates from your teams who may benefit from this opportunity.

The upcoming cohort will support five fellows, four non-resident and one North Carolina resident, and includes a stipend, mentorship, virtual leadership development, and conference travel. Please note that students in joint degree programs are not eligible, and continued employment at an HBCU library is required throughout the fellowship.

Thank you for your support in cultivating the next generation of HBCU library leaders!

Best regards,

Shaneé Yvette Willis, M.Div/MLS
