First, let me clarify that Chartercats closed shop in 2005 and no longer
builds a powercat. They have been resurrected as ClassicCats, and now build
the Jaguar sail cat. CruiserCats ( a new company) acquired the 42 Prowler
molds and is now building the Tortuga and the Havana 38. See the article in
July-Aug Motorboating.
I'v looked for photos of engine room access on my prowler, and can't find any
at hand. I'll be back on the boat in several weeks in the Bahmas and submit
then.. My cat has twin Yanmar 240's and they are located beneath the aft
staterooms. Top access is very easy, filters are readily accessible, but
impellers are almost impossible and require dismantling the coolant and
exhaust hoses and entire raw water pump. Long arms and short wrenches help.
Starters are also quite difficult. T. Hanna
