I spent over 2 hours gulling at the Windsor Landfill today from
1000-1220. Gull numbers (and garbage truck numbers) were high: I'd
estimate at least 3,000 large gulls, with flocks coming and going
throughout my stay and ~1500-2000 on the ground at all times.
Since negative reports are worth posting, I found it rather amazing
(and frustrating) that not a single uncommon species was seen. A few
odd individuals as usual, but all could be attributed to American
Herring Gull. It's difficult to spend a couple hours here during
winter and NOT see a single Iceland Gull, especially with that many
birds around.
Merry Christmas!
