EARTHQUAKE DATA
PRELIMINARY MAGNITUDE - 6.9
LOCATION -  10.9N  141.1E - WESTERN CAROLINE ISLANDS
TIME    - 1118 AST 01/16/2005
1218 PST 01/16/2005
2018 UTC 01/16/2005

This information came about 10 minutes ago. It was issued by the Pacific
Tsunami center. There appears to have been about a 50 minute lag in the
INFORMATION. Since there was no WARNING issued for this quake, I don't see
the lag as significant. This is the first significant event in the past
couple of weeks. As you may recall a 7.0 quake is considered about the
lower level to produce a Tsunami. It also requires some kind of uplift to
make the wave.
That does not appear to have happened in this case.
