"I bought an ipad3 to be our "computer" on our GL trip.? My thinking is that I can upload videos from it to you tube, send emails to my folks and include the video link in the email.? If you shoot videos with a camera, don't you have to be able to download those to a computer in order to send them to contacts?? "

Bob,
Not to worry. Apple sells a small adapter for less than $30 to get pictures and videos from a standard camera SD card to the iPad. Packaged with it is another adapter to input material from a USB cable to the iPad. Once the pictures are on the iPad you can tweak them with any of a variety of free photo manipulation apps and then post them to a web site.

To add to the recent conversation concerning transfer of videos or photos on
iPad, it's very easy to plug a tablet or smartphone in a computer and use a
software such as "iPhone Explorer" (it works on an iPad also).

Check also PhoneBrowse for PC, and certainly many more on the web.

No connection, just happy camper.
