We just wrapped up a six month "mini-loop" cruise that involved doing the Cairo, IL to Mobile, AL section of the canonical Great Loop *backwards*, then coming down the Lower Mississippi all the way to New Orleans. In the middle we did a round trip up the Tennessee River to its headwaters past Knoxville. I thought some folks here might find our experience useful or interesting; whether you are doing the usual route via the Tenn-Tom or the more adventurous Huck Finn alternative, we've made some notes and put some map pins on anchorages along the way.
