Just got off the phone with the fire matshall’s office. The reason the gate
is closed down is because it was never established as a public exit. It is
only for emergency access. Not sure who issued the complaint. I didn’t
think to ask until after I got off the phone with him. I really hope it
wasn’t from within the subdivision.

What usually takes about 5 minutes to get to the elementary school, took
over 25 minutes this afternoon. This is one angry mama bear. I really hope
this issue gets resolved soon and legally. Time is a commodity that I
already have very little of as a mom of 4.

I've got to second Steve...I do love this community...especially the humor.  
I've been told that the Board will be sending an update on the side gate.  So put away the battering rams for just a bit.  😜
As a side note, I spoke with Jose Mendez, the TXDOT manager of this debacle/project.  He said the ramps were supposed to opened when the 1 way took effect.  He has "spoken with"🙄 the contactor.
Looked like traffic was better at 5 pm than at 3.

I also talked to the engineer that designed the project. He was pissed that the stripping was not done. The exit and entrance Ramps were not open the turn around was not open and the lights not working. Said he was coming tonight to see what in the hell was going on.

Actually, that doesn't totally avoid the Fair Oaks intersection unless
you are headed toward Ralph Fair Road.  It /sometimes/does help but it
can also run into problems with traffic coming west from Ralph Fair
toward IH-10.
