The City of Tacoma is seeking volunteers to encourage recycling at the Freedom Fair on July 4th along Ruston Way.

We will have two recycling stations set up near the food vendors. We are looking for individuals at least 16 years of age to monitor the stations and educate and remind fair-goers about recycling their cans and bottles and not contaminating the recycle bins with garbage.

Please use this link to sign up for a 2 hour shift. We need 4 volunteers per shift. Freedom Fair Recycling Volunteer Sign-Uphttp://www.doodle.com/u3i68u7rgi2xp8ae

As a thank you, the City will provide each volunteer with a food voucher to be redeemed at several food booths.

Last year, Freedom Fair-goers generated 60,000 gallons of garbage. The City is looking for ways to reduce the amount of fair material going to the landfill. Other efforts include setting up temporary drinking fountains to reduce bottled water waste and composting pre-consumer food waste.
