The only comment I would like to offer after doing 5,000 miles
in the Pacific last year is that range is more dependent on
sea state the one would expect.
At 1,800 rpm we made between 8 knots and 2.8 knots.
If you have a head sea, the books say cut 1/3 off your
range, which is CAN BE true, if you have head seas of
10 ft or greater our range was reduced at least 60%,
not to mention our desire to eat!
But the good news is I lost 35 lbs on the Pacific portion of
out trip, but alas I gained weight on the Atlantic Portion.
My wife calls bashing to seaward (like windward but
what's important to power boats) the PAE diet.
PAE is the namoe fo the company that makes Nordhavn's.

Yup, that's basically why I won't even try for the Marquesas if
we don't get fuel in Kiritimati. It would be an uphill 1200 nm
run, into winds and seas.

Hopefully, that was 8.2 kts, not 2.8 ? :) 2.8 would
be excruciatingly slow!
