GBH yesterday in small pond opposite my home at Meadow View Rd, New Haven (Morris Creek Preserve), a day after the giant flood tide. I see what I assume to be this same bird occasionally every year for the last 8 years - in the same exact spot by the pond. Haven't ever had the opportunity to see if it is banded. This spot seems to be an alternate roost, since I only see it in winter after fiercely cold temps. I've also observed a qwok at roost here driving off any other interloper herons both in late fall and in spring.  These are tough birds!
