Cumberland River info

We're starting to work on routes for the inland rivers. Active Captain
has been a big help until we come to the Cumberland River. The ACOE
charts include a short portion of the Cumberland from the Barkley Lock
at KM 31 to KM 381 and Celina, TN, presumably the navigable portion, but
there are no routes showing up on AC to cover the same area covered by
the ACOE charts (such as they are). Too bad NOAA/USCG charts don't
include the inland rivers.

In any event, how far upstream is the Cumberland River navigable for
boats drawing about 4 feet?

Bob,

Celina is it. Granville Marina at mile 331.5 LDB is the last marina that I
know of.

Here is a site for cruising guides.

Charts for all Inland Waterways can be found on Corp of Engineer web sites:
for the Cumberland & Tennesee, go to Nashville Distict;  for Black Warrior,
Tom-Bigbee use Mobile District;  for Illinois & Upper Mississippi use
Rockford District.  Some charts are out of print or have not had recent
updates.  You can usually find used charts on the AGLCA forum.  Some
commercial outlets sell charts, but they are not supposed to charge more
than the C of E, but they frequently do.

Some districts provide free PDF downloads, other districts chose to go with
JPEG files.  I found the PDFs useful, but the JPEGs were difficult to work
with.
