Observation start time: 07:00:00
Observation end  time: 16:00:00
Total observation time: 9 hours

Official Counter:        Hugh Kent

Observers:        Dan Lumm, Elizabeth Kent, Jim McCoy

Visitors:
Big thanks to Dan Lumm and Jim McCoy for assisting in observation and
identification. Thanks to all our other visitors for their good spotting -
Len, Brian and Earl, Dave and Robin, Dan, Diana and Carol, Ed and Heide and
Tara.  Thanks to Bob Hall-Brooks from the Lake Banding station for bringing
a magnificent hatch year female Red-shouldered Hawk to the Tower that was
adopted by Hugh Kent.

Weather:
Colder day with a brisk north wind, temperature only reaching a high of
13.8 degC. Started with a clear sky gradually becoming overcast mid
afternoon

Raptor Observations:
Exciting day with a pretty constant stream of Turkey Vultures and good
numbers of Broad-winged Hawks. Also we had a greater variety of species
with 13 out of the regular 15 species seen.  The icing on the cake was a
late day Northern Goshawk, the first of the season.

Non-raptor Observations:
Conversely to yesterday it was very quiet on the non raptor front. Very few
songbirds, species of note were 8130 Blue Jays, 496 Tree Swallows and 154
American Goldfinch. Ebird list at
https://ebird.org/view/checklist/S60351110

Predictions:
Tomorrow wind veers from NE to SE in the earlier part of the day.
Temperatures are predicted to be a bit higher. Hopefully the Turkey Vulture
migration will continue but it will be interesting to see how the numbers
change with the different wind direction.  As always hoping for more
Northern Harriers, Sharp-shins and Kestrels with a smattering of other
Buteos.
