Cruising America's Great Loop and other inland routes
View all threadsIn the course of our travels up and down the ICW we have met many Loopers. They frequently introduce themselves because they see our Krogen Cruisers burgee on the bow and mistake it for the AGLCA burgee. By then, its too late.
I think that one big difference is that many of these folks are doing the Loop as a "Bucket List" event, buying a boat specifically for their trip and selling it upon completion. That's what Ron and Eva Stob did and many others follow suite. Those of us who are life-long boaters have a hard time putting our arms around this.
Several years ago we helped friends bring their KK42 from Appalachicola to Clearwater. We met in Port St. Joe where there was an ALGCA mini-rendezvous taking place. There was food, adult beverages and fellowship and a full day of organized chart and weather briefings and all the free advise you could ever want. As they say, a good time was had by all!
