Another medical emergency has further delayed the final
departure of Gentle Wind. But this time, it was a real
emergency!
It seems the captain (ie, ME!) had a minor heart attack
on Monday morning, July 4th. It happened only minutes
after awakening, and I called the paramedics immediately.
They were on the boat (at the Breakwater Cove Marina's
fuel dock, in Monterey, CA) within 10 minutes, and I was
in the ER just 15 minutes later.
Later that evening I was transferred up to the Stanford
University Medical Center, and underwent angioplasty on
Tuesday afternoon. They sent me home (back to the boat)
on Wednesday.
We're arranging a replacement crew member, and we're
still planning on a "real" departure this coming Monday
or Tuesday (7/11 or 7/12). I'm not letting a little
thing like this stop me, although I do plan to slow up
a bit and delegate more to the other crew members!
More later....
