On the "bright" side, perhaps this will prevent wasting our time and energy on recycling. I've seen the trash collectors empty ALL of the cans with the same lift/receptacle, and not use the recycle portion, many, many times. A friend told me the guys just put it all in the trash side when the smaller recycle portion of the truck gets full. Also, on Heritage Pass at least, there have been several occasions lately when one or all of the cans are left full, and the trucks either return later at night or one/two days later to finish. Guess they can't get it all done in one trip. They did dump it all in 1 truck. The bagged trash goes to the landfill. We are supposed to NOT bag the recycling so it gets separated at the facility. At least that’s what they told us. That is what is suppose to happen, and there are 2 separate sections on the truck. But I have seen the collector put not just our recycle can, but others', on the same lift going into the same container, as the regular trash. Twice I've seen him look around before doing it. He didn't realize my office window offers a good view. LSR, I spoke to Jim Hare, Operations Manager for Waste Connections this am. There were a few points we discussed regarding their service and the recent change in schedules. - Jim indicated poor communication on their part in notifying LSR of this recent change. Waste Connection will then communicate to the homeowners giving a 2 week notice. - Increase operational efficiency and maintain route schedules. Waste Connections has in the past been late or picked up the next day. To correct that, they will no longer utilize the two bay or section trucks for both recycle and trash. Jim indicated the lack of adequate capacity driving the change. With the scheduled runs from SA, one side would fill up leaving no additional capacity except in the other section. The driver would then need to run to the landfill to empty and then back to LSR late or even wait until the next day. - Trucks are maintained and inspected daily for spillage or leaks from garbage compartment or hydraulics/ oil. We discussed the negative impact of spilling on our streets and Jim assured me they inspect daily and service their trucks with routine maintenance. The trucks are a couple years old. If you see a spill in your street area, contact the BODs and we will get Jim engaged. Again, thank you for being patient.
