we have posted 9 pictures taken wednesday, yesterday when our maine cat "P-47"
was launched. the boat went down the slipway in waldoboro, maine at about
9:am. centuries ago this slipway was where the giant 5 masted schooners went
into the sea. you'll notice in the first pictures the fly bridge was
installed (bolted and bonded) just before "cacique" was launched. by the way,
when we got up in the morning, the air temp. was 18F!
the URL for the picasa web album is: http://picasaweb.google.com/caciquep47.
next week all the sea trials will take place, the crew from fortune canvas in
portland will install all the cushions and the fly bridge and cockpit
enclosures, and lastly the interior protective coverings will be removed from
the cabin sole and the woodwork.
in the mad dash to load the boat and head south we'll try and post a new set
of pics, featuring the interior.
exciting stuff/glenn and pam
Glen & Pam:
Thanks for sharing the launching with all of us here on PCW. A beautiful
day, a beautiful boat. What a thrill! Wish it was me.
Sincerest congratulations on your new baby.

Now I have to spend an hour cleaning the drool off my PDQ 34. She is
gorgeous !!
I've got to ask - - what is the cruise speed and fuel consumption at
cruise (with full tanks) ?
Best wishes,
Bill Carlson

the best numbers can be found on maine cat's web page, www.mecat.com. but keep
in mind those numbers are with yanmar 180 hp 4BL motors. ours are volvo 220
hp D-3's. but we are told ours match the yanmars!
the numbers given by maine cat are for an express model P-47 and ours is a fly
bridge with a hard top and enclosure ... we'll have more windage. once we get
our boat all loaded up and are on our way we can provide accurate numbers.
in the interim your best source would be gary hagstrom who owns hull #5.
gary's boat, "crackerjack", is a fly bridge P-47 with a soft bimini and it has
the same motors that we have.
based on everything we've seen thus far, in benign weather and sea-state, we
expect to typically cruise 16/17 kts and burn about 10 gph both engines
running.
Congratulations folks, a pretty boat and we hope to see you out on the water
some day.
Jonah.
