All hands--

I'm pleased to announce that John Ford assumes the duties of List
Administrator effective today. John succeeds Scott Bulger, our
original listmaster, who is heading into the wild blue yonder with
his Nordhavn 40 soon. More on Scott later.

John has been a participant in discussions here since the
Passagemaking Under Power went live in December, 2004. He joined the
main list--Trawlers & Trawlering List--seven years ago and
volunteered to serve on the List Admin Team in 2004.

John and his father own Feisty Lady, a Krogen 44, that is home-ported
in Annapolis City Marina in Annapolis, Maryland. About his boating,
John says:

"I am relatively new to the trawler scene, going on about four years
now, but have been a fan for about seven years. Currently, I have my
6-pack license, and am working toward my Masters--for what reason I
don't know, but I just like to learn. We have had two trawlers now,
first, an American Tug 34 and, now, the Krogen 44 which, if my father
can get a bit healthier, we plan to take to Bermuda, then maybe
farther. I'm looking to gain as much knowledge as I can about
passagemaking because it is a lifelong goal of mine to cross the
ocean and maybe circumnavigate."

John is the lead System Admin in charge or there Unix, Storage, and
Disaster Recovery Systems at a financial institution.

At Passagemaking Under Power, John will work to ensure the List runs
efficiently and that order is maintained. When a List runs smoothly,
it's an entertaining fountain of information and inspiration for
everyone.

You have the con, John!

Thanks Georgs,
First I would like to just put out there that you can contact me at anytime at this email address  johnpford@mac.com if you have any problems or concerns with the list.  I check my email often as I am anchored down with a full time job, so expect a reply usually the same day unless it's a weekend  when I'm out cruising.

As far as how I'm going to administer the list, I don't think I'll change much if anything at all.  But if anyone has any ideas about how they would like to change this list or it's scope please email me as I'm all ears.  But initially I would like to stand pat with the way it is until I get a better over all feel for my day to day responsibilities with the list.

Again it's a honor being chosen and I will do my best in working with you all to make this a great list.
