There were at least 3 of us who saw the gate not working or opening for the ambulance sirens Tues morning as the ambulance was trying to get the gate open.  We heard and saw several rounds of the different sirens as they tried to open the gate.  The gate still didn't open for them. I am glad the person in the white car opened the gate for the ambulance and am glad the gate was checked out that morning.  It is disconcerting that happened at all.

I was hearing sirens this morning and one was real close so I looked out to the side road gate.  An ambulance was there with its siren going and the side gate was NOT OPENING.  Fortunately a nice person in a white car drove up, triggered the gate and scooted out of the way for the ambulance.  If that ambulance had to back up and drive around to the front gate several important minutes would have been lost.  That gate MUST be fixed to fire trucks, police and ambulances can enter there.

Beth, thanks for bringing this to our attention.  We appreciate your concern for ensuring the proper operation of our gates, the devices installed and the safety of our residents.

Let me explain the action taken this afternoon to ensure the proper operation of our gates equipped with the emergency access functions.

To ensure we have the proper operating equipment as required by the state and the local FM, we had Quality Access Gate come out to test and verify proper operation of both the front and side gates Siren Operated Sensor /SOS.

The SOS on both gates were first tested by Quality with certified equipment.  Both front and back gates opened as they should.  To test further the gates operation for safety and emergency access, the Leon Springs Fire Dept. was called out to test the gates SOS with their sirens.  Both opened as they should when activated by the sirens.

Rest assured that the safety of our residents is our priority.  We have validated with certified test equipment as well simulating with sirens an actual emergency.  From this we are certain the gates are operating as designed for access using the SOS function.

Both gates are also equipped with Knox boxes.  These are required by the Fire Marshal and allow for entrance into our community by the Fire Department in case of an emergency.

If you have any questions to the devices in place, please reach out.

Tom Angotti, Greg Anderson and Reid Cain.

Wow!  Sounds like that the gate company needs to go back out and test it.  And for safe measures,  see if EMS or Fire will come out to test it too.  This is serious business.  You never know,  it could be you that needs that extra minute.  But I am confident our Board will take immediate action which is needed to address this situation.  Thanks for letting the community know about this Bruce and Beth.
