We discussed trying to get continuous rotation with $t*180 to keep the number of frames required for a video low and found ultimately that it was theoretically possible, but it wouldn’t help. However, running gears backwards with the right number of frames, so that they appear to run forwards, also allows the number of frames required to be reduced and the result is quite acceptable. Though a video with, say, 360 frames is technically better than one with 180 frames, the human eye can hardly tell the difference.
Have you perhaps converted the Balandin MB4 3.scad file (above) to a video? (At over 11 MB the video is unfortunately much too big to post here.) I think the video works quite well.
