Symphony Tacoma is currently recruiting for a part-time marketing manager.
Position Title: Marketing Manager
Reports to: Executive Director
Employment Type: Part-time, exempt - $30/hr, 20 hr/week, some evenings and weekends required
Symphony Tacoma's mission is building community through music, with a vision of being innovative, vibrant, engaging and everywhere! An enduring non-profit arts organization, it has been a vital part of Tacoma’s cultural landscape since 1946 and has operated as a professional symphony orchestra for the past 25 years. With 80 contracted musicians and an affiliated community chorus, the Symphony brings music into the lives of 20,000 citizens annually throughout the South Puget Sound region.
Position Summary: The Marketing Manager is responsible for developing, implementing and managing all marketing communications plans and activities to achieve annual subscription and single ticket campaign goals and is responsible for publicity, public relations, brand management and general visibility. The position also provides support for the fund development campaign by creating communications and collateral as needed.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop marketing campaigns and serve as production manager for all print and digital materials in support of marketing, fund development and general brand awareness.
- Work with Patron Services Manager to plan and implement annual subscription renewal and acquisition efforts through print and digital campaigns.
- Plan and implement single ticket marketing, promotions, advertising and publicity, including media buys. Assess ticket sales goals and determine pathways to achieve appropriate revenue numbers.
- Work with graphic designer on concepts for marketing assets to ensure effectiveness and adherence to Symphony Tacoma image/brand.
- Create and distribute eNewsletters and oversee social media campaigns. Develop new and creative ways to promote Symphony activities and engagement on social and other online media. Plan and execute strategic use of paid online ads/boosted posts.
- Work with Patron Services Manager to maintain website.
- Support media relations: write press releases and liaison with media outlets. Seek publicity opportunities for Executive Director and Music Director in the community (interviews, presentations, partnerships, etc.).
- Partner with Advancement Manager to sell ads for annual program book.
- Take photos/videos at Symphony Tacoma concerts/events and maintain digital asset library.
- Develop and monitor annual marketing budget income and expenses.
- Assist in cultivation of patrons at concerts and other events.
Desired Skills:
Three to five years previous experience in marketing and communications roles to include:
- Experience developing compelling marketing campaigns and assets
- Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills
- Experience in subscription or membership marketing, media buying, advertising and public relations
- Knowledge of social media best practices
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage diverse responsibilities; excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to prioritize and meet competing deadlines in a faced-paced and creative work environment
- Ability to work independently remotely as well as provide support to team members
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, WordPress CMS, email marketing programs; familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite or other graphic design programs
- Appreciation for orchestral music; experience working in a non-profit arts environment preferred
