I received a question from Sharla Frost (one of our new members representing Fort Towson) for the brain trust in hopes you all have some research and/or experience with this question. See below. Please make sure you copy her in your response. Thank you!
One of our local supervisors wants to require the employees to hand in their personal cell phones upon arrival in the workplace and retrieve them only at the end of the work day. I have not found any applicable case law and am hoping that someone in OAMA may have some insight.

Osha regs regulate cell phone use while operating construction equipment; NLRB approved a rule restricting cell phone use to non work time such as breaks, lunch, etc. I dont find any other reported approvals of prohibiting cell phones at workplace.
