White House budget promotes some workforce priorities, but includes drastic
cuts to key programs
Dear Amanda,
Yesterday, the Trump Administration released its 2019 budget request, which
included a mix of severe cuts and marginal funding increases for
workforce and education programs.
There were some good proposals around workforce and education, including a
recommendation to expand Pell grants to short-term programs and additional
funds for apprenticeship. But, drastic cuts to TANF, SNAP, and WIOA would
seriously worsen our already critical workforce shortage.

.
In addition, an analysis by NSC’s Workforce Data Quality Campaign shows a
mixed bag for data policy as well. The budget would eliminate key data
grants, but expand access to wage data. Read a full examination of data
proposals on their blog

As appropriators work towards a spending agreement on 2018 and look towards
2019, it is vital your members of Congress hear how important these
programs are to you and your communities.
