Hey guys,
Danny Nelson is a rugger in NY that was seriously injured at Saranac.
Please take 2 minutes right now and paypal $10 (or more) to help out his
family with the mountain of medical expenses they are facing.  Read below
for more info. Paypal - jdoody5@comcast.net

Good Morning LI Rugby Family –

In follow up to Gareth and Wetzel’s note about Danny Nelson a few short
weeks back, I have been able to obtain the below information regarding The
Move Fund created in Danny’s name to help support him and his family during
these difficult times.

Please take a moment to read and donate as you are able to.  A
partner/entity has been secured that will match $ for $ all contributions
through 9/12, so please act quickly.

Thank you all for your time, thoughts, prayers and support.  It will all
go a long way in Danny’s recovery.

"THE MOVE" Fund

Dear LIRFC Community -

For those of you who knew Danny Nelson on the rugby field, he had “THE
MOVE”.  He would sprint on an angle to his left, then in an instant turn 30
degrees while not slowing down at all.  (For those who need some geometry
help, 30 degrees looks something like this <).  No one has, and no one ever
had the ability to make “THE MOVE” like Danny;  so in his honor, we are
naming our fundraising effort,  “THE MOVE” Fund, on behalf of Danny.

It is now our turn to make “THE MOVE”.  On behalf of all LIRFC/Old
Blue/Doggies, it is my privilege and honor to ask you, and I hope you feel
it is your honor and privilege to receive this request.  We are asking all
LIRFC/Old Blue/Doggies to make a $20-$50 contribution to Danny and his
family to defray the costs associated with his family’s journey from
eastern Long Island (Center Moriches) to White Plains every day to visit
Danny.  Each visit is about 150 miles round trip, with gas, tolls on
bridges, and a cup of coffee, Karen Nelson is spending at least $40 each
visit.

So let’s make Karen’s life a bit easier - and in doing so, make Danny’s
life better
.

We have found an entity that will match your contribution dollar-for-dollar
if your money is received by September 12th, so get your donation in the
mail today
. Upon receipt we will present to Karen,  in an oversized  card
with each of your names inside.

More on Danny: Honestly, he was near death on the field due to a severe
head trauma, he stopped breathing for a period of time.  He was flown from
Saranac to Burlington VT. where he stayed for two weeks.  He is now in
White Plains rehabbing, but he has a long way to go. He had brain damage
that is limiting his motor skills, but he is making progress. Beside the
couple of bucks we are asking for, please keep him in your thoughts and
prayers.  Contact info below:

The best time to go visit per his family is Tuesday and Thursday, 4:30 pm
to 8:00 pm until further notice.  If you can’t go during those times,
visiting hours generally are 8 am to  8 pm daily, but avoid coming during
Danny’s rehab sessions, which are currently at 9:30 am, 11 am, 11:45 am, 1:30
pm and 3:00 pm and last for 45 minutes.  Probably best to call his nursing
station at Burke at 914-597-2416, to check whether the time of the daily
rehab sessions have changed and if so to what.

have played with any of Mirro’s sevens teams knows the

The injury caused swelling on the brain to the

point where his body shut down, and he needed CPR on the

field. Without getting into details, he awoke from surgery

partially paralyzed. The good news is that the doctors

believe he can have a full recovery.

The

rehab road isn't going to be short but those of us that

The FDNY Rugby team will be hosting a

the details as I am getting this info from second hand

Good Morning LI Rugby Family –

In follow up to Gareth and Wetzel’s note about Danny Nelson a few short weeks back, I have been able to obtain the below information regarding The Move Fund created in Danny’s name to help support him and his family during these difficult times.

Please take a moment to read and donate as you are able to.  A partner/entity has been secured that will match $ for $ all contributions through 9/12, so please act quickly.

Thank you all for your time, thoughts, prayers and support.  It will all go a long way in Danny’s recovery.

"THE MOVE" Fund

Dear LIRFC Community -

For those of you who knew Danny Nelson on the rugby field, he had “THE MOVE”.  He would sprint on an angle to his left, then in an instant turn 30 degrees while not slowing down at all.  (For those who need some geometry help, 30 degrees looks something like this <).  No one has, and no one ever had the ability to make “THE MOVE” like Danny;  so in his honor, we are naming our fundraising effort,  “THE MOVE” Fund, on behalf of Danny.

It is now our turn to make “THE MOVE”.  On behalf of all LIRFC/Old Blue/Doggies, it is my privilege and honor to ask you, and I hope you feel it is your honor and privilege to receive this request.  We are asking all LIRFC/Old Blue/Doggies to make a $20-$50 contribution to Danny and his family to defray the costs associated with his family’s journey from eastern Long Island (Center Moriches) to White Plains every day to visit Danny.  Each visit is about 150 miles round trip, with gas, tolls on bridges, and a cup of coffee, Karen Nelson is spending at least $40 each visit.

So let’s make Karen’s life a bit easier - and in doing so, make Danny’s life better.

We have found an entity that will match your contribution dollar-for-dollar if your money is received by September 12th, so get your donation in the mail today. Upon receipt we will present to Karen,  in an oversized  card with each of your names inside.

Hey guys. Danny Nelson

played for Brockport, LI, Old Blue, and FDNY. Won a

National championship with old blue sevens. Those of you that

have played with any of Mirro’s sevens teams knows the

Nellie. A real competitor. A true rugby man.

The injury caused swelling on the brain to the

point where his body shut down, and he needed CPR on the

field. Without getting into details, he awoke from surgery

partially paralyzed. The good news is that the doctors

believe he can have a full recovery.

The

rehab road isn't going to be short but those of us that

know how competitive he is, knows that Danny will push it to

the limits and make the doctors look good.

The FDNY Rugby team will be hosting a

fundraiser out in LB to help defray any of the costs

incurred due to his injury and accommodations for his family

during his hospital stay. I don't have too much more of

the details as I am getting this info from second hand

near future.
