Hi everyone. As many of you know the end of September is critical for ASA sections. The number of members we have at that time determines the number of sessions each section will have at next year's ASA meeting in New York. We are currently a little under 300 members. We need 300 members in order to have 2 sessions plus the business meeting/roundtables session at next year's annual meeting.
IF we can get up to 400 members by September 30th, we would have 3 sessions plus the business meeting/roundtables session. As we saw at this year's ASA, there is a lot of great research being done related to technology, communication, media, information, etc.
Can you do your part to help us reach the 400 person goal for this year? I know it is a lot to ask but CITASA has been remaining stable around 300 members for several years. Given the importance of the work that we do and of our section, we should be larger than we are. Tell your colleagues who are doing work in our area about our section and that they should join CITASA! After all, we have the coolest receptions and are the friendliest of ANY section! Who can forget 'Bowling for Capital', the cruise around the Golden Gate Bridge a few years ago, or the fabulous receptions organized by past chair Gina Neff over the past 2 years!
If you have students working in this area, send me their names. CITASA is offering free student memberships to all current ASA student members. Any student who is interested in joining the CITASA section, please email me with your name and your ASA ID number. I will submit a compiled list of new student members to ASA.
If you are not a student and would like to join the CITASA section, you can join the section here: https://www.e-noah.net/ASA/Login.asp.
If you are not an ASA member and would like to join ASA and CITASA, you can do so here: https://www.e-noah.net/ASA/Profile/NewCheck.asp?S=1.
Please share with others who may be interested in becoming members.
Thanks for your support of CITASA!
