We responded to your December 2013 Environews Release in our
email by attending a Save Energy Today presentation at the University of Puget
Sound. After hearing glowing recommendations from some Sustainableworks
customers, and a verbal recommendation from an employee of Tacoma Public
Utilities we subsequently entered into a project with Sustainableworks.
We are writing to inform you about our experience. It did
not go well from the start. We were not at all impressed by the standard of
work, the training of workers and the lack of supervision and safety standards.
But all that pales into insignificance in light of recent
events. We had paid all charges due long ago. Therefore, it came as a great
shock to be presented with a lien on our house by Sunset Air, one of the
subcontractors. After many phone calls in which both Sunset Air and
Sustainableworks gave us less-than straightforward responses, it appears that
Sunset Air has not been paid by Sustainableworks. We were told by the latter
that this type of event had never happened before, a claim that is denied by
Sunset Air, whose general manager told us that they have issued several liens
on properties where Sustainableworks was their general contractor, and for
which they have not been paid. .
Having checked the Pierce County Auditor website, we can
confirm that the lien has been filed. At this point we have had to contact our
attorney, as a lien will have a serious impact on our credit history, which is
flawless. We are in no way to blame for a dispute between two contractors.
We bring this to your attention so that you may be aware of
some background to the people who have been working with the City of Tacoma.
Sincerely
Frank and Kathleen Erickson
