Kevin J. O'Brien is an Associate Professor of Religion and the Chair of
Environmental Studies at Pacific Lutheran University. His teaching and
research focus on Christian environmental ethics, the intersection of
religion and the environment, and the intersection of environmental
concerns with social justice. He wrote An Ethics of Biodiversity
(Georgetown, 2010), co-wrote An Introduction to Christian Environmentalism
(Baylor, 2014), and co-edited Grounding Religion (Routledge, 2010) and
Inherited Land (Cascade, 2011). He is currently working on a book about
the relevance of the Christian peace movement to the contemporary
challenge of climate change. In addition to his academic work, Kevin is an
executive officer on the board of directors for Earth Ministry, a
Seattle-based nonprofit that seeks to help faith communities play a
leadership role in response to environmental degradation.
