Puget Sound Book Artists offers a workshop opportunity to the public

Only 4 spaces left. Don't delay!

Tacoma Workshop:Chinese Thread Binding

Sunday, May 5th,

Becky Frehse's Studio

2926 South Steele Street, Tacoma WA

Presented by Gabby Cooksey

Description: In this class, we will be making a Chinese thread book, also known as Zheng xiang bao or Shu bao, which is an elegant  portable toolkit.  This is a structure with many hidden pockets to store your needles, receipts, scraps of paper or whatever your needs are for it. Personally I keep mine in the car for gas receipts and ferry receipts. We will be making them with hard covers instead of soft, book cloth, and easy to fold paper. This class will first show you how to make the boxes (so you are familiar with the folds) and then we will use that knowledge to make the real structure.

There will be one hour for lunch break.  Lunch is not provided, so bring your own.

Workshop fee: $80

Materials List:

  • ruler
  • scissors
  • triangle (preferably one that is at least 9 inches in height)
  • pencil
  • bonefolder
  • apron

To Register: https://pugetsoundbookartists.wildapricot.org/event-3338207

Participant materials fee: approximately $10 paid to Gabby on the day of the workshop
