The exhibit debuts at the historic Tacoma Armory at 1001 S. Yakima Avenue, debuting on Sept. 21 with an evening Launch Party, then opening for regular viewing hours from Sept. 22-Oct. 14. MICHELANGELO'S SISTINE CHAPEL: THE EXHIBITION<http://chapelsistine.com/> recreates the awe and wonder of arguably one of mankind's greatest artistic achievements while allowing its visitors to experience this art from a new perspective. With special expertise and care, the ceiling paintings from the Sistine Chapel have been reproduced using state of the art technology. In order for the observer to fully engage and comprehend the artwork, nearly all of the paintings have been reproduced in their original sizes. The overwhelming impression for the observer will be the details of the art, the closeness to the picture, and the modern style of the exhibition. As a result, visitors can explore the artwork up close at a distance impossible to achieve in the Sistine Chapel. The exhibition is an innovative and unique interpretation of Michelangelo's timeless masterpiece. Guests who have already visited the Sistine Chapel will find a new way of observing the art. Visitors who have never seen the originals will be intrigued and inspired to visit the Sistine Chapel at some time in the future. "We are thrilled to serve as the only Washington State venue for Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel: The Exhibition. For art lovers and the devout both, this exhibit allows a way to experience the work in a contemporary and curated experience, uncluttered, self-timed and in-depth. Guests may enhance their experience by adding an optional audio guide, with narrative accompaniment available in English or Spanish. Tickets for the Launch Party on Sept. 21 at 7:00 p.m. are $75 and include two drinks, appetizers, and extended viewing hours. The exhibit will then be open from Sept. 22 to Oct. 14, with tickets starting at $12, for a one and a half-hour viewing. All tickets are on sale now at BroadwayCenter.org.
