The Committee for Education Funding is planning a Twitter chat tomorrow, February 3, 10 a.m. – noon ET as part of the “Five Cents Makes Sense” campaign to increase education investments to five cents of every federal budget dollar. The Twitter chat will happen during the Senate HELP Committee confirmation hearing of Dr. Miguel Cardona for Secretary of Education.
Below are details and ideas for participating:
· Use CEF’s Twitter handle @edfunding
· Hashtag for the campaign is #5Cents4edfunding – to emphasize CEF’s goal to increase federal investments from the current 2% of the federal budget to 5 cents of every federal budget dollar
· Feel free to use CEF’s charts (attached) or other Tweet content in support of education funding
· Even if you’re not able to develop your own tweets, please retweet CEF’s - volume of messages and sharing of information across various education advocacy groups is key.
If you’d like some samples of tweets to share in advance of the Twitter chat, you can use the following:
o Mark your calendars for Feb. 3 at 10am ET to join the @edfunding chat to highlight the many education funding needs for @teachcardona while @HELPCmteDems hold the hearing on his nomination to be Secretary of Education.
