AUDITIONS: A CHRISTMAS STORY SEPTEMBER 11th through SEPTEMBER 13th

Tacoma, WA- Tacoma Little Theatre is holding auditions for its holiday
spectacular, A Christmas Story, by Jean Shepherd and adapted by Philip
Grecian.  The production will be directed by Jennifer York.

Auditions will be held Sunday, September 11th and Monday, September 12th at
Tacoma Little Theatre (210 N I Street, Tacoma WA 98403) and on Tuesday,
September 13th at STAR Center (3873 S 66th St, Tacoma, WA 98409).  Audition
appointments will be set starting at 6:00pm on Sunday and 7:00pm on Monday
& Tuesday in five-minute increments. Callbacks will be held on Saturday,
September 17th at Tacoma Little Theatre.  All actors must schedule their
appointment using Casting Manager at the link below.  TLT requires that all
actors provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination.

Humorist Jean Shepherd’s memoir of growing up in the midwest in the 1940’s
follows nine-year-old Ralphie Parker in his quest to get a genuine Red
Ryder BB gun under the tree for Christmas. Ralphie pleads his case before
his mother, his teacher, and even Santa Claus himself. The consistent
response: “You’ll shoot your eye out!” All the elements from the beloved
movie are here, including the family’s temperamental exploding furnace;
Scut Farkas, the school bully; the boys’ experiment with a wet tongue on a
cold lamppost; the Little Orphan Annie decoder pin; Ralphie’s father
winning a leg lamp; Ralphie’s fantasy scenarios and more.

All roles are available: *Adult Roles: *Ralph Parker (Male), Mother
(Female), The Old Man (Male), Miss Shields (Female), Ensemble (Male and
Female), *Youth Role: *Ralphie Parker (Male), Randy (Male), Flick (Male),
Schwartz (Male) Esther Jane Alberry (Female), Helen Weathers (Female), Scut
Farkus (Male), Ensemble (Male and Female).  Roles will be cast age
appropriate, actors need not specifically fit a certain age to audition. Tacoma
Little Theatre practices color-conscious casting and encourages everyone to
attend.

Auditioners are asked to prepare one comedic or dramatic monologue, no
longer than 90 seconds.  (Youth who audition can be unmemorized)
