Vuecrest Road Resurfacing
On April 20th the Bellevue City Council awarded the 2020 paving contract to Watson Asphalt Paving. This contractor has done paving work for Bellevue in the past and they are eager to get started. Vuecrest is on the top of the list to be paved.

This project is running a bit ahead of schedule and we could see paving begin in about a month. Kyle  Potuzak, Pavement Program Manager for the City of Bellevue, is tracking some utility repairs that are scheduled to happen in Vuecrest over the next several weeks and his plan is to follow right behind with the paving work. Late May/early June weather is a bit of a wildcard, but he’ll keep us updated as he gets dates scheduled.

He would normally have one of his inspectors drop off door hangers at each home to let residents know about the upcoming work, but with the public health situation, that may not be possible this year. You will see examples of the door hanger below. So be on the lookout, you may be receiving email information from the City and/or the Vuecrest HOA to get information regarding this project.

At this point, we are asking neighbors to consider and evaluate any landscape overhanging the road or landscape items that are within one-foot of the edge of pavement. The city is advising us to trim or relocate those temporarily. The City will be rebuilding the outside edge of the roadway to improve drainage. City inspectors will work with individual residents to restore landscaped areas as best they can, if possible. Watch for further information regarding this project.

Vuecrest 100th Street East Entrance is OPEN
Construction of the roundabout is complete so please use extra caution! The cars moving past the Vuecrest entrance will not stop while traveling through the roundabout. I’ve already experienced a near-miss with a large black pick-up truck approaching from the North while attempting to exit our neighborhood onto 100th Street. The cars coming through the roundabout will not be expecting vehicles exiting from our neighborhood and they may be moving fast so please be careful.

The City of Bellevue is taking feedback from Vuecrest residents on the implementation of the mini roundabout. They are going to narrow the southbound approach and add additional channelization to slow down that approach speed. They will also do some work to narrow the width of the lane around the roundabout which will also slow the speed. They believe the changes will resolve the speed issue. The traffic engineering staff will monitor this site in person and with cameras again when the channelization is in place to confirm the results.

Thank you Easter Bunny!

Yet another successful Easter egg delivery this year in Vuecrest! Even the pandemic could not spoil the Easter spirit. Our resident Easter Bunny made over 30 deliveries to the homes of our young and "young at heart" neighbors. Thanks to all those neighbors who got up early to wave from afar. -Eileen Foley

We sure appreciate all the hard work Eileen Foley and all her bunny helpers put into making our Easter memorable. It was so fun watching you deliver eggs to all the children in the neighborhood. Such a thoughtful way to turn a negative into a positive.

We missed having the annual Vuecrest family Easter Egg Hunt in the esplanade, but you may have started an equally fun Vuecrest tradition. Way to celebrate! Thank you, Eileen!

More Great Neighbors!

How thoughtful! Our friendly neighbors at 9640 Vineyard Crest left free bags of masks on a table in their driveway for community use. Thank you for sharing! It’s so nice to see such kindness during troubling times.

This month is brimming over with neighbors thoughtfully and considerately trimming their trees and landscape to meet the Vuecrest CC&R’s and clearing view cooridors for their neighbors.  909 95th has removed a tree that was blocking Olympic Mountain views. 810 Park has removed their hedge. 925 Park has trimmed their hedge, and 9675 Evergreen has trimmed a tree that was blocking city views. Congratulations for being community members that we’re proud to call neighbors!!

Please remember that all hedges have a maximum height on your property sides and back of 6 feet and 4 feet in the front. View corridors would require lower heights on all landscape including hedges.
