Dear NCL Colleagues,

This may be of interest:

Opportunity for Community Based Organizations (CBOs) to participate in pilot of revised U.S. Naturalization Test

Community Based Organizations (nonprofit) that provide U.S. Citizenship Education programs (not just ESL programming) are invited to participate in a pilot of the Revised USCIS Naturalization Test. All participants and programs are welcome to express interest. There is a need to reach citizenship programs throughout the US serving diverse populations, and specifically to pilot the test with participants with lower proficiency levels. The pilot test will be used to help test the validity and performance of new questions. Participating CBOs will benefit by receiving access to training materials and advanced access to proposed test items, and contribute to the overall development of the naturalization test.

  • Participation is completely voluntary.
  • There is no passing or failing.
  • The test will not count toward granting citizenship.
  • No personal information will be collected.
  • Participating students should be enrolled in a citizenship education course through your organization, and be a lawful permanent resident (i.e. green card holder)

Estimated Timeline

  • January-February participating CBOs are notified and receive supporting materials
  • February-March participating CBOs can utilize preparation materials to teach about new test items
  • TBD April 2020: Pilot Test
