Ann: Here is the latest update on the Surf City Swing Bridge, daily closure for repair. Under the temporary deviation, the bridge is supposed to be "closed to navigation from 4 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday through Friday; except for scheduled openings at 8:30 a.m. and 12 noon;" however, the bridge tender told me it has generally been opening on its normal "top of the hour" schedule – sometimes with a delay of up to 15 minutes – rather than the posted deviation. Keep this in mind especially if you're planning to transit at the 8:30 am opening noted in the restrictions – you may want to call ahead (910) 328-4291 since the openings may be at 8am and 9am rather than 8:30am.
