What’s to get hot? I have a on-off switch  at the stove with ind light. It turns on the solenoid that is at the 20lb bottle and let’s  propane out of bottle through solenoid to stove. It us in  vented locker  you only go
In locker to replace bottle. What Am I missing??

If there is something that I learned from my years of taking care of
engineering plants, normally "on" solenoid valves are warm, if not hot to
the touch, when on, even in a deep freeze environment.

If it is not, then it is not receiving any power.

If it is warm and not working correctly (fluid not flowing when warm when
it should be, or vice versa) then further t/s is required.
