Roger - a follow-up..
These are my notes from a successful STL repair process.. this worked for
me, N.B. I use Ubuntu Linux, so I don't have access to the 3D tools on a
Windows 10 machine.
Stumbling around trying to fix a long broken STL model…

I used MESHLAB 2022
Hmm. I came across this and ended up in "included in fusion 360" from
autocad and they dropped Linux support.
I now found appimage/flatpac for linux downloads. I'll give them a try
one day.
Hope this helps..
The other people involved have a "friend" who happily pays say $50k a
year for his 3D cad software, because the value to his company is a
multiple of that. They got him to clean up the file. It has printed, I
think. The camera still claims "too little light" so I can't see it
from here.
I've designed a snap-fit in openscad, so next step is to scale it up
beyond my print-volume, and add in the joints...
Roger.
