Keep Vuecrest Beautiful

Now is a great time to trim your hedges and trees. This past summer has
brought exceptional growth to our neighborhood, often two or three feet. Our
neighborhood covenants limit hedges to four feet in the front of the home
and six feet elsewhere. In addition, trees need to be maintained so that
they don't block views of neighbors. Keeping them to your roofline or below
is a good reference point.

Please be a good neighbor and ensure that your landscaping stays under
control and within the limits. If you have questions, feel free to contact
landscaping@vuecrest.net mailto:landscaping@vuecrest.net .

Keep Vuecrest Safe

In recent months, there have been several cases of car prowls in Vuecrest.
All of these incidents have involved cars that were left unlocked in
driveways. Please keep your car locked, and if you do have a break-in,
please call 911 and email the Vuecrest Blockwatch group at
blockwatch@vuecrest.net mailto:blockwatch@vuecrest.net .

Flag Duty

The flag in the Vuecrest esplanade on Park Road has been maintained by Barb
Prahl for many years, but she is moving out of the neighborhood. Flag duty
involves raising and lowering the flag on specified days and checking the
flag for wear and damage. If you have a responsible teen who would be
interested in taking on this service (or you'd like to do it yourself),
please email  mailto:president@vuecrest.net president@vuecrest.net.

Director Departure

For over a dozen years, Lisa Bursett has served Vuecrest in many roles:
President, Vice president, Secretary, and Chair of the Social, Welcoming,
and Newsletter committees. In addition, Lisa has been instrumental in
updating our mailbox stands, getting mailbox locks, building the monument on
the corner of 8th and 92nd, and making many other improvements to our
neighborhood. Earlier this month, Lisa resigned from her position as
Director. Pursuant to the Vuecrest By-Laws, the remaining Directors will
appoint an Interim Director to serve the remainder of her term.

Please join the Vuecrest Board of Directors in thanking Lisa for her years
of service to the community.

Summer Picnic

New and old neighbors met at Vuecrest's annual picnic, which was held on
Sunday, August 30th. Food, live music, and a very popular animal petting
area contributed to a fantastic event, which was well-attended. Many thanks
to Social Chair Melissa Hambleton and all of the volunteers who helped make
this possible.

Sumiyoshi/Continental Properties Redevelopment Meeting

There are plans underway to replace the 24-unit apartment complex at our
east entrance (the northeast corner of 10th and 100th) with a five-story,
135-unit apartment building with two levels of underground parking. The city
is holding a public meeting on this project on October 22 at 6:00 p.m. at
City Hall in Room 1E-120. Interested neighbors are encouraged to attend and
participate.

Vuecrest Annual Meeting

The Vuecrest Community Association Annual Meeting has been rescheduled to
Wednesday, November 11 at 7 pm, in the Fireside Room of Grace Lutheran
Church, on the other side of NE 8th Street, opposite Vuecrest.  Please note
that this is a different room than past years. We will present a review of
this year, vote on the proposed budget for next year, as well as hold
elections for two of the Director positions.

Anyone who is interested in serving as a Director, please contact any of the
current Directors at directors@vuecrest.net mailto:directors@vuecrest.net
.

Monthly Board Meetings

The next Board meeting will be held by Wayne and Elaine Guan (9605 Hilltop
Road) on Thursday, October 1st at 7pm. Vuecrest residents are always welcome
to attend.
