Ever wanted to work in a natural history museum? Now’s your chance! We’re
hiring a new Education & Outreach Director for the museum. This role
oversees all outreach programming for the museum, facilitates the use of
our Nature in the Classroom kits, and runs our unique and incredible
student docent program, and more!

Come see The Hidden Specimen!
Museum specimens through the eyes of local artists, a science art show
at the Kittredge Gallery.
The Puget Sound Museum is excited to announce the opening of our science
art show The Hidden Specimen. Created in collaboration with the Kittredge
Gallery, this show features the work of over a dozen local artists and
University of Puget Sound students who have used our specimens as
inspiration to create art. The Hidden Specimen runs until October 14th and
is viewable during the gallery's open hours. Curated by museum Education &
Outreach Director, Madison Mayfield.

  • Join us for a Show Reception & Drawing Night - September 28th (5PM)
    at the Kittredge Gallery, featuring a 20 minute talk from museum Education
    & Outreach Director, Madison Mayfield and a drawing night in the museum.
    Free, food & drink provided.

Upcoming Events at the Puget Sound Museum
Fall semester is in full swing at the University of Puget Sound and that
means more events at the Puget Sound Museum, including our always popular
Halloween-themed Night at the Museum, monthly Drawing Nights, and more!
Night at the Museum

Get a behind the scenes look at our natural history collection and learn
cool facts about our specimens from our student docents! Night at the
Museum is a free, family-friendly, drop-in event for visitors of all ages.
This event runs from 6 - 7:30 PM.
Drawing Night

Bring your sketch books and spend time with our specimens to make some art!
Drawing Night is intended for artists 15 & up and is a free event with a
recommended $5 donation. Sign-up for these events is required as space is
limited. To receive information about Drawing Night sign-ups, please email
us at pugetsoundmuseum@pugetsound.edu and ask to be added to our SciArt
mailing list.

Visits to the Puget Sound Museum are by appointment only. If you'd like to
visit the museum to get a tour of our collection, bring your classroom in
for an exciting specimen-based learning activity, have an art group that
would like to do some sketching, etc. please email us with your desired
visit dates and we will do our best to accommodate your request!
