Finally a non-commuting day corresponded with a sunny morning over
Spectacle Brook Swamp.
Some of the spring arrivals have moved on. Not found were Black-throated
Green, Northern Parula, Ovenbird and Blackburnian Warblers.
But the flycatchers finally made an appearance today, and a beautiful
Magnolia Warbler is spending the morning in the shrubs next to our yard.
This morning's count was 46 species - highlights included:
- Wood Thrush & Veery
- A passing Fish Crow
- Eastern Wood-pewee
- Willow Flycatcher (back again)
- Eastern Kingbird
- At least two Northern Waterthrush
- Warblers: Black&White, Common Yellowthroat, Magnolia, Redstart, Yellow,
Blackpoll and Black-throated Blue
- Sparrows: White-throated (straggler), Chipping, Swamp and Song
- Yellow-bellied Sapsucker

Not enough of these mornings this year. But very welcome!
