Eben Moglen is a lawyer connected to the free software and free
culture movements.

He talked at the FOSDEM (free/open source software developers)
conference in Brussels and reflected on capitalist social media,
Egypt, China, ... , here and argued for an action plan for greater
freedom from kill switches and other threats by the use of bottom up
mesh networks and cheap technology built out among trusted peers....

Dear Jim,

I noted your subject line (portion) "decentralize[d] nets versus the
[nation-]state. I would appreciate your steering me toward this portion of
the talk, in particular. I have written on the subject and would also be
happy to share my own lit review. Which link of the three below is most
relevant to that topic and are you willing to offer a 50-word synopsis of
your own?
