Good Afternoon Fellow Birders,
Since Monday afternoon, I’ve had a Hooded Warbler in my yard! I was so
surprised Monday afternoon - it did not seem likely I’d see him the next
day. But sure enough I did and continue to do so. We’ve only been in this
home for five years but I’ve added A LOT of plants- primarily native but
not exclusively. We also leave leaf litter and most plants up over the
winter. No chemicals and we compost. I say all of this because I think it’s
fair to say it helps create an inviting habitat. Despite the frosts, I am
still seeing insects which the Hooded Warbler is enjoying. Last but not
least I’m going to give a shout out to Matt Bell and Stefan Martin, who I
met when I worked at CT Audubon. They have both been very helpful as I
continue to learn!
Enjoy the day!
