Central Daylight Time Subj: SR 520 Bridge Replacement and HOV Program Update SR 520 Bridge Replacement and HOV Program Join us Saturday, Oct. 1: Public meeting for Seattle Community Design Process We hope to see you at a public session this Saturday morning to help shape the new SR 520 in Seattle. We recently launched the _Seattle Community Design Process_ (http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/Projects/SR520Bridge/I5ToMedina/scdp.htm) , an important opportunity for community members to provide feedback on a new, sustainable SR 520 that benefits the environment and enhances mobility for drivers, transit riders, bicyclists and pedestrians. * When? 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Oct. 1 (short presentation begins at 9:30 a.m.). * Where? _Mary Gates Hall_ (http://washington.edu/maps/?MGH) , University of Washington campus. On Grant Lane, south of Suzzallo Library and north of Drumheller Fountain – pay parking is available on campus or use transit routes 43, 49, 71, 72, 73, 271. Bike racks are available in front of the building. * What will I see? A presentation to update the community on the I-5 to Medina project and Seattle Community Design Process, and information about the project design and current sustainable and urban design principles. * What can I do? Discuss and provide input on the new SR 520 corridor in Seattle, meet the project urban design team, and learn more about plans to enhance community connections, lids and bridge structures along SR 520 from I-5 to the west end of the floating bridge. Construction closure in Bellevue: I-405 closed this weekend, Sept. 30-Oct. 3 Weather permitting, this Friday at 11 p.m. we will completely close northbound I-405 and reopen Monday morning by 5 a.m. with new ramps. This work is part of the _Braided Ramps project_ (http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/Projects/I405/NE8thtoSR520/Default.htm) . When complete, I-405 will operate smoother and safer by eliminating traffic weaves for drivers on northbound I-405 and eastbound SR 520 between Northeast Eighth Street and 124th Avenue Northeast. _Check out our map_ (http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/Projects/I405/NE8thtoSR520/belfuture.htm) for helpful information to get from I-405 to SR 520. If the weather doesn’t cooperate, we’ll reschedule the closure and work to another weekend. King County Metro bus service changes begin Saturday Oct. 1 Metro Transit is making many changes to its bus service starting on Saturday, with even more changes for the commute on Monday. On the Eastside, there are 11 bus routes with revised routing, 12 routes eliminated, three new routes, and the debut of the RapidRide B Line. Look ahead: Next SR 520 weekend closure scheduled for Oct. 15-17 Next month, we will _completely close_ (http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/Projects/SR520Bridge/WeekendClosures.htm) the SR 520 floating bridge and highway from Montlake Boulevard in Seattle to I-405 in Bellevue. The October closure will only take part of the weekend, starting at 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15 and reopening to drivers by 5 a.m. Monday, Oct. 17.
