Minnesota just implemented a "red flag" law that recently went into effect and a member has a question for those with experience with these types of laws. The new law dictates that family members, city and county attorneys, and county sheriffs can petition now the court for an "extreme risk protection order" or ERPO if they believe that someone presents a danger to themselves or others by possessing firearms. See Minnesota Statutes Secs. 624.7171, et seq. The member would like to speak with attorneys from other states that already have these laws in place about their experience with implementing and using these procedures.
